Have an activity that's tried and true - works every time? Share it with ASTD and get published in an upcoming book!
Chapter Services and
ASTD Press have teamed up to provide chapter leaders and chapter members
with an exciting publishing opportunity. ASTD Press and Pfeiffer Publishing
will co-publish a book of “road tested” activities (those that
work every time) written by chapter members.
What’s in it for chapter members when their activities
are published?
• A complimentary copy of the book
• Professional exposure; their contact information and a short bio will
be printed in the book
• And best of all, they will be considered an ASTD and a Wiley author and
receive a 25 percent discount for all Wiley titles.
"Chapters for Chapters" -What’s in it
for your chapter?
Your chapter can be a winner, too. In the “Chapters for Chapters” contest,
the chapter from each size category (small, medium, large) with the most submissions
will win five books you can use as a door prize or in any way you wish, and
also receive special mention in the book. Let’s put every chapter in
the book!
Have your chapter members email Elaine Biech,
the book's editor, to confirm their interest or ask questions at ebboffice@aol.com
by July 4. She will send a publishing template to help get your members started,
review important dates and deadlines, and help with editing to ensure that
each submission is the best it can be!

ASTD Recognizes the Central Indiana Chapter in its “Sharing Our Success” Program
The Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) was recognized for its submission to the ASTD “Sharing Our Success” (SOS) program. The national SOS program identifies best practices among local ASTD chapters and uses them as models for other chapters.
Lisa Downs, Chair of ASTD’s Chapter Recognition Committee, said, "This recognition honors CIASTD’s best practice that demonstrates its commitment to managing a successful organization as well as advancing the learning and development profession at the local level. We are excited to honor the chapter with ASTD's SOS recognition."
Through an interactive process as a board, the chapter used the majority of their 2010 Board retreat to update their mission and vision to reflect the current state of the chapter; they used this time to develop a set of values to support their ways of working together.
