Committees

Board

Interested in becoming more active in CIASTD? Please see below for more information on what each committee does.

Communication Committee

The communication committee publishes the monthly on-line newsletter, updates the Web site, and promotes the chapter in the community. Anyone with an interest or background in marketing and public relations is welcome to join.

The committee meets for one hour monthly, generally following the monthly meeting.

For more information about the Communications Committee, contact the VP of Communications.

Finance Committee

The newest CIASTD committee, the Finance committee helps the chapter raise the funds necessary for operation. Members work on meeting sponsorship goals and gathering monetary and in-kind donations for chapter use.

For more information about the Finance Committee, contact the VP of Finance.

Membership Committee

The membership committee is responsible for recruiting and welcoming new members to the chapter as well as retaining current members.

The membership committee promotes the chapter and assists in coordinating networking and career development activities for members. The membership committee also facilitates the VIP Bucks program which rewards members for volunteering and participating in CIASTD.

Committee members attend regular meetings and often act as "greeters" for new members at the monthly programs.

For more information about the Membership Committee, contact the VP of Membership.

Programs Committee

The program committee strategizes, organizes, and coordinates monthly programs to best meet the needs of the Chapter. We currently offer live, online, and special event program formats, and we continue to look for innovative and creative ways to provide quality programs to the Chapter. Members of the committee can participate in a variety of ways including: identifying speakers, scheduling speakers, introducing speakers, conducting program evaluations, and coordinating marketing efforts with the communications committee, to name a few.

Do you have the desire to get involved and be part of the team that helps drive quality programs to the Chapter?

It is not a large time commitment for the value you will add. This committee requires two-four hours of commitment a month.

For more information about the Programs Committee, contact the VP of Programs.

Regional Event Committee

The regional event committee plans and coordinates additional learning opportunities for the chapter. One event this team plans and implements is the CIASTD Fall Conference.

We need volunteers this year - if you want to be involved but can't commit to a year-round position, this could be the place for you! Here are some specific roles we're looking to fill:

- Solutions Marketplace Coordinator
- Sponsorship Coordinator
- Programming Coordinator

These roles require about 1-3 hours a week of commitment from June 1 to November 30, 2010. In addition to these roles, volunteers would be needed to help each of these coordinators.

For more information contact the
VP of Regional Event

Certification and Development

How rewarding is it to contribute to the development of someone in your own profession? Experience it for yourself! Certification and Development works one-on-one and with groups to assist in preparing for or considering certifications. We also organize and support the newly formed CIASTD University. Worried that you do not have the skills needed? Don’t worry! Two of the greatest benefits of working with a committee are developing your skills and demonstrating your expertise. Personal certifications are not required. If you enjoy planning events, communicating with other learning professionals, or if you are passionate about facilitation, this is the committee for you.

For more information contact the VP of Workplace Learning and Certification

Technology

Do you enjoy learning new technologies and sharing that knowledge with others? Are you interested in finding ways to engage CIASTD members with the use of technology? The Technology committee is always looking for new members to be involved in leading in the development and use of social media tools, our website, Ning network, webinars, and other technologies as they become relevant to our chapter.
